This years opening practice and car show will be more memorable than in years past!
Thanks to help from Roger Cassill & the Cassill racing family, Earnhardt Jr. will be making some laps along with Landon Cassill on the Hawkeye Downs asphalt!
Everyone is asked to come early to get autographs & photos at the free lunch provided by R & R Foods in the bingo hall, beginning at noon.
This will be the first appearance for Jr. to the local asphalt track, his father raced here years ago in a modified. " I can't wait to see the facility, dad had many good things to say about it, it is a top notch facility" Jr. said in a phone interview, " Landon will be able to show me a thing or two on his stomping grounds!"
The event will be filmed by Jem Video, copies will be on sale soon after, including interviews with Jr. & Landon, also shots of fans with Jr. at the lunch.
This will be an event you won't want to miss, hopefully this will be the shot in the arm Hawkeye Downs needs to get the program back on track!
Late Day Update:
I just received an e-mail from April F. Yuols, promotions director for Junior Motorsports, this event has been canceled due to scheduling conflicts!
Sorry, this sounded like it would have been a neat event!
